Pilates is physical conditioning that focuses on connecting the mind and body and building a strong core foundation. It can improve mental and physical well-being, increase flexibility, and strengthen muscles through controlled movements done as mat exercises or with equipment to tone and strengthen the body.
There are a wide variety of Pilates Training Programs available with 2 main focuses: traditional training that adheres strictly to what Joseph Pilates taught (classical); or training that incorporates new techniques and developments in exercise science (contemporary). The Pilates Method Alliance (PMA) offers the only professional certification exam for the Pilates industry; after passing the exam, Pilates instructors are PMA certified. Most Pilates instructor training programs are excellent, requiring many hours of study, practice, and exams at a level that meets or exceeds the requirements for the PMA professional exam. However, Pilates training is not regulated, so PMA certified is the gold standard.
Mat Pilates Classes.
This class offers a safe entry into the Pilates Principles and Beginning Pilates Mat work. With emphasis on Core strength and stability, we begin the class with basic Body Flossing™ techniques to free up restrictive tightness and then give you a full body Mat workout!
Learn the fundamental exercises that create the foundation of how to move safely with proper hip/spine alignment, transitioning from one exercise to the other with fluid, smooth, flowing and centering movement along with proper breathing.
Beginner level pilates class.
Experience an awesome workout that perks you up! A combination of Yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi ending with meditation. Bring yoga mat and water bottle, plan on laughing and starting your day out with a smile! $5/per class.
Use the weight and resistance of your body to develop strength and flexibility in your muscles and joints. Emphasis on breath and efficient movement makes this workout functional as you identify how to transfer this work to your daily life! Fee: $10 per class
